I watched "The September Issue" earlier, the documentary about the prestigious Vogue issue released every September. In the fashion industry, September marks the beginning of a new year, it is then that we can identify the trends, colours, textures that we will see in the following seasons.
Anna Wintour, the elusive editor in chief was obviously featured a lot in the film, giving a rare insight into her life. She was born to a father that edited The Evening Standard, she knew from a young age that she wanted to edit Vogue.
From watching the film it dawned on me quite how influential She is. One person said - "no one was wearing fur until Anna put it on the cover", referring to when in the 90s Wintour controversially put fur on the front cover. Fur always has been a controversy for Wintour, when asked how to wear fur at Paris Fashion Wrek she responded simply "there's always a way to wear fur" whilst wearing a large fur stole.
To conclude- the film is a definite watch. If you enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada then you'll enjoy The September Issue, which has a more raw and obviously, real edge to it.
Thank you!
